Get Motivated 2015
By Sean Meier
On October 1st the freshmen of Kenwood, Northeast, Northwest, Montgomery Central, Rossview, and West Creek converged on the Dunn Center at Austin Peay for an inspirational speech by David Garcia.
The event started with music and some inspirational words by Dr. B.J. Worthington, the director of schools, who told the freshmen he wants to see them and shake their hands at their graduation in 4 years.
Following Dr. Worthington’s words, Garcia came out and held a spirit competition between the schools to see which could chant the loudest to show their school spirit. Rossview won the competition being the loudest when chanting their schools cheer.
During the speech the speaker Garcia made jokes about his life growing up, and even threw shirts into the crowd. The inspirational speech given by Garcia to motivate freshmen didn’t last very long, but was still motivational. He told the freshmen that anyone can succeed if they try hard enough. Overall, it was still a fun and informational expierience.
“I thought it was pretty cool and fun,” said Marrissa Lanthrop.

Homecoming SPIRIT returns for a week
It's that time of the year again, when Kenwood shows off its school spirit through fun and wacky attire.
This year’s spirit week features some old favorites and a few new additions.
Returning Monday is Twin Day. So grab some friends and dress alike.
Tuesday is a new one at Kenwood; it is Pirates vs. Heroes Day. Dress up as your favorite pirate or super hero.
Wednesday brings another new day to the week, with Color Blast Day. Wear bright crazy colors, tie-dye or neons; the idea is the more color the better.
Thursday gets its name from social media, as we welcome Throwback Thursday to the list of days. Bring back your favorite fashion from decades past to show off your Kenwood Spirit.
Friday is Class Up Your Colors day. Wear your class colors or black and gold with a splash of green (freshmen), blue (sophomores), purple (juniors), or red (seniors).
The reinstating of Spirit week, after only having a few days last year, has given the students a renewed interest in participating in spirit activities.
Just remember Kenwood, keep the outfits in school dress code.
